For the past 16 days, I’ve researched and tested 19 blog name generators. Some were really disappointing, some were okay, and others were amazingly impressive. So I curated the list to give you the best tools only.

During the tests, only 3 tools did the job — out of the 19 name generators. That’s why in this article, we’ll look at three of the best blog name generators available today and explain how each one works.

As always, get a cup of coffee, and let’s dive right in!

Why Does a Good Blog Name Matter?

A blog name is the first thing readers see when they stumble upon a new blog, and it can make a big difference in the success of the blog. A good blog name is crucial for at least four reasons:

1. It creates a brand: Your blog name is the first step in creating a brand for your blog. A memorable and catchy name can help readers remember your blog and differentiate it from other similar blogs.

2. It sets expectations: The name of your blog should reflect what your blog is about. A blog about cooking should have a name that hints at food or cooking, for example.

A good blog name tells readers what to expect from your blog.

3. It’s memorable: A memorable name can help readers remember your blog and return to it again and again. A catchy name also encourages readers to recommend your blog to others.

4. It’s shareable: A good blog name is easy to share on social media and other online platforms. If your name is memorable and catchy, readers are more likely to share it with their followers and friends.

In short, a good blog name is crucial for creating a brand, setting expectations, and being memorable and shareable.

When choosing a blog name, it’s important to take the time to consider the purpose of your blog and what message you want to convey to your readers.

How Do I Find a Perfect Blog Name?

In this article, I will show you how to find the perfect name for your blog using blog name generators. Blog name generators are online tools that generate blog names based on the keywords you provide/enter. Here’s how they typically work:

1. You enter keywords related to your blog niche, brand, or business into the blog name generator.

2. The blog name generator uses an algorithm to come up with a list of potential blog names based on your keywords.

3. The blog name generator will typically provide several suggestions for your blog name, often including variations on your keywords or using synonyms to create unique and catchy names.

4. Some blog name generators may also provide suggested domain names and social media handles that you can use to create an online presence.

It’s important to keep in mind that blog name generators should be used as a starting point rather than a definitive solution. While they can be useful for generating ideas and inspiring creativity, they don’t always provide the best or most unique names.

However, the names they suggest are definitely inspiring. In fact, it’s a blog name generator that recommended adding “iconic” in front of “blogging.” That’s when the name Iconic Blogging was born.

Once you have a list of potential blog names, do some research to make sure that they are not already in use and that they convey the message that you want to communicate with your blog.

3 Best Blog Name Generators

Now that we’ve discussed why a good blog name matters and how name generators work, let’s look at six of the best blog name generators available today.

1. BusinessNameGenerator.com

Businessnamegenerator.com is a free online tool that helps entrepreneurs and business owners (bloggers) generate unique and memorable names for their businesses. With its user-friendly interface and an extensive list of features, it’s one of the best blog name generators and the first on our list.

You can find different generators on the website: brand, product, app, store, podcast, and website name generators — to name a few. But the one we want to talk about today is the Blog Name Generator tool.

Users can enter keywords related to their blog, generate ideas, and choose from various settings to customize the name-generation process.

But let’s generate name ideas together. Go to Businessnamegenerator.com and enter keywords related to your niche.

In this example, I want a name for a new travel blog — so I will enter keywords like travel, adventure, traveler, trip, journey, and expedition — and click Get Started.

And there you are! The tool just generated hundreds of blog name ideas. All I need to do is find a name that matches my vision.

BusinessNameGenerator generates blogs names

The tool sets a couple of filters for your niche by default (based on the keywords you entered. You can always refine your search by choosing your own filters.

One feature that sets Businessnamegenerator.com apart from other name generators is its extensive database of words and phrases (Really, it doesn’t joke). The site uses a vast library of words related to different industries, niches, and themes to provide unique and relevant names.

You see, many tools will only allow you to enter 1-2 keywords (travel and adventure, for example). Do you know what names these tools will generate? They will suggest a name like Traveladventure, which doesn’t make any sense.

One last useful feature of Businessnamegenerator.com I want to mention is its domain name checker. You can quickly check whether your desired name is taken or available.

Click on any blog name to check its availability. If the name is available, It’ll show “Register.”

But if it’s already taken, it’ll show “WHOIS.”

Note: In the image above, I only checked if the .com version of my domain name is available. I also recommend .com to everyone.

Overall, Businessnamegenerator.com is an excellent resource for blog owners looking to create a unique and catchy blog name.

With its expansive database of words and themes, customizable settings, domain checking, and easy-to-use interface, it is an indispensable tool for anyone launching a new business venture.

2. Zyro Business Name Generator

Now, let me introduce another blog name generator you’ll love: Zyro Business Name Generator.

Zyro is a powerful and easy-to-use tool for bloggers looking to find the perfect name for their blog. Like Businessnamegenerator.com, you’ll need to enter keywords related to your niche and click Generate Name.

Zyro Business Name Generator

The tool immediately generates 20 blog name ideas in its database. If you want to see 20 more names, click on Generate Name again.

Blog Name Ideas from Blog Name Generators

What I like about Zyro is its originality. It generates names that sound cool and catchy. It gives you the feeling of using names similar to big brands like Google, Samsung, or Facebook.

Check out names like Advoidor, Equip, Endovue, and Wearenosec. They sound cool.

Good blog names from blog name generators

But the problem is these names confuse visitors. They don’t know what to expect when visiting your blog and they are easy to forget.

Don’t get me wrong! I don’t mean that other tools like Businessnamegenrator don’t suggest such names.

The difference is those tools generate hundreds of words, not 20. So, bad blog names easily go unnoticed.

Zyro also lacks basic features, like allowing you to set your own filters. Moreover, you need to use another tool to check domain availability. Nevertheless, Zyro is far better than most of the blog name generators I tested.

While those tools only merge the keywords I provided — even a 5-year-old child can do that — Zyro tries to come up with original names. Undoubtedly, I prefer to use a tool that generates original names instead of merging words without creativity.

3. BizNameWiz

You might be thinking: Wait, doesn’t BizNameWiz look like Businessnamegenerator.com?

Indeed, it does. In fact, the same company owns both tools. And we can expect the same output since the first tool was incredible.

BizNameWiz allows you to enter up to 6 keywords separated with commas. Click on Get Started after entering your keywords.

BizNameWiz - Best blog name generators

Well, we can already see the visual difference between BizNameWiz and BusinessNameGenerator.  But that’s not our main focus here. Look at how BizNameWiz is outstanding.

The first nine names strike and make me want to use them.

Blog Name Ideas generated by BizNameWiz

That’s how a proper blog name generator is supposed to work. You can also check if the domain is available without leaving the page, and I love that.

Check blog name availability directly from the blog name generators

Another thing I like about BizNameWiz is its AI Style feature. It’s one of the two tools that have such extensive filters among the 19 I checked. Playing with this feature, you can ask the AI to change the keyword position in the name or use short phrases or brandable names.

Set filters to find specific blog names from the blog name generators

You are in full control. You decide on how your name should be written and sounded.  Thanks to this feature, you can come up with an original and catchy blog name without much effort.

Overall, BizNameWiz is one of the best blog name generators. You will never go wrong with it. Combine it with the two tools mentioned earlier, and you will have the perfect name for your blog.

There you are! You have your list of the best blog name generators. But before you go, let me answer two big questions people often ask.

What Makes a Good Blog Name?

A good blog name is short and easy to remember, easy to spell and pronounce, and does not contain numbers and punctuation. I also recommend adding a keyword (words related to the topic of your blog) to your blog name. Readers will trust you more.

The length of the name and the number of characters you decide to use will depend entirely on you. Go with your gut. It will not disappoint.

Of course, you should not use a name like supercalifragilisticexpialidociou. It’s long, hard to remember, spell and pronounce.

Is it Okay to Use Your Personal Name As Your Blog Name?

I highly don’t recommend using your personal name as your blog name. A personal name doesn’t create credibility. Just think about it for a sec! If you google ‘natural flu remedies,’ will you click on a site called Jonhsmith.com or Healthline.com? You’ll certainly choose the latter.

Why?

Because Healthline screams credibility. The name sets expectations and says something like ‘hey, we talk health issues all day here.’ And that’s the website people will be checking. However, Johnsmith.com sounds like a website that talks about anything, not a specialist.

Also, a personal name doesn’t move people and make readers stick with you. People would like to remember a brand, not somebody’s name. Think about the richest people on the planet.

Yes, many people know their names, but most of us use their brands.

If you want to build credibility fast and want people to remember your brand, do not use your personal name.

I talk about personal names on page 47 of my ebook on how to start a blog and make money. You can download it for free today to see even more examples and the dangers of using personal names.

How do I Know if a Blog Name is Taken?

You need to check the availability of the domain of your blog name to know if it’s taken. You can do that on any domain registrar’s website, like GoDaddy or Domain.com.

Go to GoDaddy, enter your domain (blog name), and click Search Domain.

Use domain registrars to check blog name availability

GoDaddy will show you if the domain is available or not.
